Questions about this tour

Is Bovilla worth visiting?

If you have half a day in Tirana, it is the quickest way into the mountains: the canyon tracks, the reservoir, and the Gamti View Point, where the whole of Bovilla Lake is below you. It takes about four hours by Jeep or Hummer, or three by buggy from our base.

How far is Bovilla from Tirana?

About an hour. On the morning departure we pick you up at 09:00 and are on the canyon track by 10:00, and the whole tour has you back at your hotel by early afternoon.

Can I drive the buggy myself?

Yes - the 2-seat buggy is self-drive. You need a valid driving licence, and we check the card itself, not a photo. Helmets and goggles are included and our lead buggy guides the run. If nobody wants to drive, the 4-seat buggy comes with our driver.

Can I drive the Jeep?

No - the Jeep Wrangler, the FJ Cruiser and the Hummer are always driven by one of our drivers. On this route the buggy is the vehicle you can drive yourself.

Is the Gamti hike difficult?

No. It is a short walk up to the ridge, 20 to 30 minutes on loose ground, at your own pace. Wear closed shoes and bring a layer - it is colder at the top than in town - and there is time for photos and a coffee below.

Can children join the tour?

Yes. The Jeep and Hummer tours have no age limit. On a buggy, passengers must be six or older, and whoever drives needs a valid driving licence.

What should I wear?

Closed shoes, and long trousers if you are on a buggy - the track is dusty. Bring a jacket for the viewpoint, sunglasses and sunscreen. Helmets, goggles and water are on us.

What happens if it rains?

We move your day or cancel it, free of charge - nothing has been paid, so nothing is lost. We make the call the evening before or early that morning, and you hear it from us rather than having to ask.

Do you provide hotel pickup?

For the Jeep and Hummer tour, yes: we collect you from your hotel or address and bring you back, free in Tirana and at Rinas airport, for a fee agreed on WhatsApp anywhere else. The buggy run starts and ends at our Bovilla base, and we can arrange the transfer there.
